Snakegourd Curry(padavalanga theeyal)

Ingredients:

Snake gourd

Coconut

Mustard seeds

Turmeric powder

Curry leaves

Green chillies

Onions

Salt

Pulp of tamarind

Preparation

Roast coconut and grind it to powder. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and green chillies. Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown. Add turmeric powder, snake gourd pieces and saute for a few minutes. Add tamarind pulp and salt, and cook until the snake gourd is tender. Add coconut powder and cook for a few more minutes. Serve hot with rice.
