Unniyappam is Famous traditional recipe of Kerala, which is prepared with raw rice and jaggerry by adding banana and some spices, but the authentic recipe take time to prepare, here an instant unniyappam recipe with authentic taste.
INGREDIENTS
ghee-2 tbsp
coconut pieces-3-4 tbsp
sesame seeds- 1 tsp
wheat flour-1/2 cup
maida-1/2 cup
rice flour-1 cup
semolina-2 tbsp
salt-1/4 tsp
jaggerry-1 1/4 cup
water-1 1/2 cup
sugar-2 tbsp
cardamom-4
banana-1/2
baking soda-1/4 tsp
Preparation
Take a bowl, add dry ingredients, mix well keep aside. Heat ghee in a pan, add coconut, roast it until it turns brown, add sesame seeds, then turn off stove after mixing it well. Grind sugar and cardamom well and add to the dry ingredients. Grind banana, and add above the dry flours. Melt jaggerry with water, pour it to the bowl, add water if required, mix well and make a medium thick batter, add baking soda last, combine well. Heat unniyappam pan, pour oil, let wait to heat well, then pour the batter in each hole, cook it in medium flame, fry both sides well.
