Onion Pakoda
Ingredients
4 small onions, chopped
3 green chilies, chopped
1 inch ginger, chopped
3 garlic cloves, crushed
Curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 cup gram flour
1 cup maida flour (all-purpose flour)
1/2 cup rice flour
1/4 teaspoon soda powder
3/4 cup water
Oil for deep frying
Preparation
In a bowl, combine onions, green chilies, ginger, garlic, curry leaves, chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.In a separate bowl, combine gram flour, maida flour, rice flour, and soda powder. Mix well.Gradually add water to the flour mixture and mix until you form a thick batter.Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of batter into the oil.Fry the pakodas until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.Remove the pakodas from the oil and drain on a paper towel.Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
